5 Second Project: Pinball + Making Of

Hey there!

Recently entered the latest 5SP: Pinball by Nick Campell and wanted to show how it could look if you would use a camera instead of a ball.

If you feel disoriented and think all this happened way to fast after watching this video I was successful :)
Also this time I added some motion-graphics to improve the impact of the animation, which I don’t use that often. But in this case it felt like a nice stylistic device to transfer the vibes and the style of a 50s or 60s diner with some pinball machines.

Because I had so much fun during this project and the animation is so short I decided to create a making of and show how the pinball machine looks from outside while playing. If you want to know the technique I used to trigger the collision events via Xpresso you can read about them and download an example over at Muse Creative.

Rogue – Short Film

After some time in post and working on it Rogue is finally finished.

Originally it was a test for Kessler Cranes super useful Pocket Slider with the Oracle system, but we had so much fun that we decided to shoot some more scenes and create a story about a rogue agent.. Interpretation is up to the viewer =)

Some of the compositing turned out quite hard, and required lots of patching and retiming, but it was a great project to learn some nuke and new stuff as well.

Photography – some model pictures

Had a workshop in Luminanz photography studio today, here are some of the results.

It was fun and interesting to see how light shapes a scene and to experiment with different looks. Hope to do some more soon.

VFX Massacre Lens Flare Collection for Optical Flares

I love lens flares. Michael Bay does, JJ does, everybody loves them.

And because I’m such a huge lens flare fan I took my time and created 50 new and unique lens flares for Video Copilot’s awesome Optical flares plugin. Some lens flares are recreations of the ones my own lenses produce, like the Canons and Rathenows. Others are based on older glass or a skewed anamorph lens.

There are also many other lens flares which are based on movies, games or TV shows, that are better suited for motion graphics or dramatic effects.
